The Old Pioneer Store and Emporium is nestled in the middle of Historic
Downtown Big Rapids-home of Ferris State University and in the former
building that housed the Pioneer Newspaper. The first thing you will
notice when you enter the Old Pioneer Store and Emporium is the
genuine smile and greeting from our friendly staff. Locally owned by
Brian and Carlleen Rose the Old Pioneer Store and Emporium is a store
who is proud of the community it serves. We are blessed with customers
who shop locally and those who travel miles to visit our shop and bring
their family and friends.
Preserving History and bringing back old-fashioned enchantment is
an important part of our store. You will step back in time to
experience the nostalgia of an Old-fashioned soda fountain
complete with vintage apothecary shelves that were salvaged from a
local drug store operating in the 1800’s. The soda fountain
has a marble serving counter and is flanked by porcelain base
wooden stools that feature a 10-ft brass foot rail. We enjoy
serving Old Fashioned sodas, Kilwins malts, shakes, and delicious
hot fudge sundaes all served in real glass dishes. You’ll
sit and visit with friends and family at real antique tables and
your kids will feel special swirling around on the oak seats at
our real marble soda fountain bar or sitting at our kiddy table
reserved for the smallest of ice-cream customers.

Fudge kitchen where we make
fudge, Carmel corn (that
melts in your mouth) peanut
brittle, homemade caramel
apples and a host of other
wonderful confections right
in the window of the store.
You can be entertained as you
enjoy the wonderful aroma and
free samples as we make the
confections to stock our
shelves and satisfy the
demand of our many customers.

When you leave our Old-fashioned soda fountain and enter our gift shop the beautiful displays and huge selection of gifts our store has to offer will amaze you. Diane, my gift manager and I have worked hard to bring you the finest gifts available and at reasonable prices.

Our bath shop which boasts of the complete line of Crabtree and Evelyn toiletries has wonderful perfumes, lotions, massage oils, bathgels, and aromatherapy products in many different fragrances

Our Crystal shop features beautiful vases, bowls, dishes, and lamps, wineglasses, picture frames and many other beautiful pieces. We are proud to be a Fenton Signature Store and feature the complete line of the most beautiful hand blown glass available.

You will be in heaven as you step into our candle shop that features over 70 different Yankee candle scents with every size and shape of candle you can imagine. We carry the Bullfrog Candle Company and Colonial candle too!

People don't want to leave
our garden room with the
beautiful windchimes, water
fountains, stepping stones,
garden benches and beautiful
flower arrangements and dried
wreaths.

Our Boyds bear room is a site to behold with over 1,000 Boyds bears and hares and other stuffed animals to choose from. We are a Boyds bear gold dealer and carry everything the "head bean has to offer."

We are famous for our year around Christmas shop!

Our Michigan gift shop is ever growing with the wonderful products Michigan has to offer, including our own local call to fame---Rodney Red Popcorn delicious and locally grown!
