The Old Pioneer Store and Emporium is nestled in the middle of Historic Downtown Big Rapids-home of Ferris State University and in the former building that housed the Pioneer Newspaper. The first thing you will notice when you enter the Old Pioneer Store and Emporium is the genuine smile and greeting from our friendly staff. Locally owned by Brian and Carlleen Rose the Old Pioneer Store and Emporium is a store who is proud of the community it serves. We are blessed with customers who shop locally and those who travel miles to visit our shop and bring their family and friends.

Preserving History and bringing back old-fashioned enchantment is an important part of our store. You will step back in time to experience the nostalgia of an Old-fashioned soda fountain complete with vintage apothecary shelves that were salvaged from a local drug store operating in the 1800’s. The soda fountain has a marble serving counter and is flanked by porcelain base wooden stools that feature a 10-ft brass foot rail. We enjoy serving Old Fashioned sodas, Kilwins malts, shakes, and delicious hot fudge sundaes all served in real glass dishes. You’ll sit and visit with friends and family at real antique tables and your kids will feel special swirling around on the oak seats at our real marble soda fountain bar or sitting at our kiddy table reserved for the smallest of ice-cream customers.
